The 37th annual gala event that brings blues fans and players from across the world together was a huge success and the nominees and winners were a virtual who’s who of the incredibly talented musicians who have appeared at the Edmonton Blues Festival over the past 18 years…Winners that have appeared at our festival who won awards included…Terry Hanck (horn), Kim Wilson (harmonica), Cedric Burnside (drums), John Primer (Traditional Blues Male Artist), Joe Louis Walker (Contemporary Blues-Male Artist), Mr. Sipp (Best New Artist Album), Victor Wainwright (B.B. King Entertainer), Duke Robillard (Acoustic Album) … And winning her 9th Blues Music Award was Shemekia Copeland, part of the Friday night line up at this year’s festival (August 19 to 21) …more info on the Blues Music awards and the great work done by the Blues Foundation can be found at
