A little about
Carrol Deen and Cam Hayden have been producing and promoting blues together since the mid-80’s. Carrol worked promotions for The Edmonton Folk Music Festival and was on the board of The City Media Club in its’ hey day as a blues venue in Edmonton. Cam has been programming the blues on CKUA Radio Network since 1978, has written about the blues for various publications in the Edmonton area and booked the City Media Club in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Together, they formed WingTip Productions and produced blues shows at various locations around Edmonton before forming Blues International Ltd. in 1998 with the express intention of giving Edmonton blues audiences an annual blues festival. Since its’ inception, Edmonton’s Labatt Blues Festival’s stage has been graced by Dr. John, Ike Turner, Charlie Musselwhite, Ronnie Earl, Shemekia Copeland, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Marcia Ball, to name just a few. It’s our aim to present three days of blues, and nothin’ but the blues, showcasing local, national and international talent in the scenic and intimate Heritage Amphitheatre located in Edmonton’s river valley.
